Where I’m From

By: Carlos O’Connor

I am from fishing lines, from Adidas and vacations. I am from the comfort of my home.

I am from the Oak tree, the Redwood.

I am from Ireland and photography, from Clodagh and Anna and O’Connor.

I am from the campground and the zoo. From “bird“ and “the skies alone“.

I am from the irish people. Their culture also.

I’m from Connecticut and Cuba, mashed potatoes and empanadas.

From the time leaves of my grandfather and the father of my future sons, and from the sports we play.

I am from the dining table in the kitchen and their love in my heart.
